Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer 3 to support advanced aerospace and national security programs in Chandler, Arizona.
The selected engineer will lead the development, analysis, modeling, simulation, integration, and testing of GNC systems for advanced aerospace applications, including aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, and launch vehicles.
This role requires strong experience with GNC algorithms, mathematical modeling, control theory, simulation, and technical software development. The engineer will also provide technical direction, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor early-career engineers.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development and evaluation of Guidance, Navigation & Control systems for advanced aerospace applications.
Develop, maintain, and utilize six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulations for flight algorithms and flight software.
Perform trajectory analysis, optimization, and mission-performance evaluations.
Design, develop, implement, verify, and test software and simulation toolchains.
Apply mathematical modeling, control theory, and algorithm-development techniques to GNC problems.
Optimize flight and simulation software for performance, robustness, reliability, and maintainability.
Support integration of hardware and software components.
Analyze and tune navigation, guidance, and control performance.
Support modeling, simulation, integration, verification, and test activities.
Present technical results, risks, findings, and recommendations to program leadership.
Provide technical direction on GNC approaches and solutions.
Mentor and provide guidance to early-career engineers.
Collaborate with engineering, integration, test, software, and analysis teams.
Support development activities within a Linux environment.
Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of professional experience, OR
Master's degree with 10+ years of professional experience, OR
PhD with 8+ years of professional experience.
Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Existing U.S. Government Secret security clearance .
Demonstrated experience with Guidance, Navigation and/or Control concepts, algorithms, or analysis.
Experience supporting aerospace, missile, spacecraft, aircraft, or autonomous systems.
Experience with development, modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or analysis of aerospace or autonomous systems.
Proficiency with C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar technical software tools .
Experience developing in a Linux environment .

Proficiency with C++ and Python.
Experience with Atlassian Jira.
Experience with Git/version control.
Knowledge of continuous integration and modern software engineering practices.
